Karen gained her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Miami School of Law with a Concentration in Business of Innovation, Law, and Technology in 2021. She also holds a master's in international law and Cross-Border Transactions from the University of Miami School of Law and gained her law degree in Colombia as well in 2009.
Professional Experience:
Karen currently holds a position as an Attorney at Law at Tamarisk Law Firm where she represents clients in state and federal legal matters, applying her knowledge of Colombian and U.S. law to achieve successful outcomes to clients in personal matters and various business, innovation, and technology-related matters, with a particular focus on cross-border transactions.
Karen previously held a position as an Administrative Law Attorney at the Judicial Branch in Cali-Colombia where she accumulated over 8 years of experience in administrative law, rendering over 800 judgments in torts, class actions, taxation and contractual cases disputes between government agencies and Colombian citizens and private companies. During her enrollment at the University of Miami Karen participated in the Startup and Entrepreneur Practicum Program where she gained strong problem-solving skills and developed creative thinking while helping clients to response office actions before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, among other related tasks.
Community Involvement:
Karen is an active member of a local church in Fort Lauderdale where she played a significant role in creating a ministry dedicated to startups and entrepreneurs who wish to run their businesses in line with Christian principles.

Karen is a devoted Christian, a family-oriented individual, and a dog lover. She believes in the importance of ethical and principled business practices and strive to integrate these values into her legal work.
